Intensive Care

Here at QVCC we are very fortunate to have an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). It allows us to provide intensive care and monitoring of pets that are critically ill, medical emergencies and those who are recovering from trauma or surgery.

  • In-Clinic Consultations
A standard consultation will allow one-on-one discussion time with your vet and a physical examination will be performed. A full and detailed history will be obtained and any new concerns will be addressed. Medications, treatment plans or further diagnostics can be carried out or arranged at this time. Consultations are 20 minutes long and are available Monday through to Saturday. Appointments can be made over the phone or via our online booking services. If you are a new client please bring along any relevant information including your pets health care passport, vaccination certificates etc.
  • Telehealth Consultations
We can also offer telehealth consultations under some circumstances for your convenience. During the consultation the vet will gather a detailed history from you and make a tentative diagnosis and treatment plan for your pet. It is helpful to have your pet with you, in a room or on a lead, in case the vet needs you to check something specific. Lots of questions will be asked so think about what you need to discuss prior to the phone call. Not all concerns can be addressed over the phone but the vet can help you determine the next course of action for your pet. Please contact us to arrange a telehealth appointment.
  • Nurse Consultations
Our trained nurses can offer a range of services and valuable knowledge. Some services that our nurses can provide are as follows: Nail clips Anal gland expression Follow-on injections such as Cartrophen Suture removal Nutritional advice and weight management Microchipping New puppy or kitten information Surgery admissions and discharges Dental check ups Bandaging requirements and wound management Administration of medication including parasite control Check and record vital signs such as body temperature, heart rate, respiration rate etc. Triaging
  • Behavioural Consultation
Your pet’s behaviour can have a huge impact on the relationship between you, your pet and other family members. Behavioural problems can be complex but we aim to establish a diagnosis and determine a treatment plan suited to your individual situation. Behaviours may be related to medical conditions, environmental causes or emotional health issues. In order to properly resolve behavioural problems dedication from both pet owners and your veterinarian is required. Together, we can help you reach a realistic goal and remain on track to achieve success. You are not alone, we are here to help!
